This checklist helps you see your practice the way a first-time patient does. Ten honest questions that most health practices have never stopped to answer.

What you'll know after working through it:

  • What your homepage is actually communicating before anyone reads a single word

  • Whether your booking or contact information is as easy to find as you think it is

  • Which trust signals are missing, and how that affects whether patients call

  • Whether a new patient landing on your site at 11pm would feel like they'd found the right place, or keep searching

These are the questions I ask before every brand project

I've spent a decade designing for health and wellness organizations — including years doing patient education design for hospital systems, where the work was about helping patients understand complex health information at some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives.

What I learned from that work: most health practices and nonprofits are so focused on the quality of what they do that they rarely stop to see themselves the way the people they serve actually do. The website that made complete sense to the team who built it is often confusing — or invisible — to the person who needs it most.

UX research on healthcare websites consistently shows that patients make trust decisions before reading a single sentence. Not based on your credentials or your outcomes — based on whether the page they landed on feels like it was built for them.

These checklists are the questions I bring to every brand and web evaluation. I'm sharing them because knowing where the gaps are is the first step to closing them.
